Westminster Academy competes in Robotics World Championship

After winning the Smoky Mountain Regional, our Shark Attack FRC Team 744 is competing at the FIRST Robotics Championship in Houston.

After winning the Smoky Mountain Regional, Westminster Academy’s Shark Attack FRC Team 744, moves on to Houston this week to compete at the FIRST Robotics Championship. This is a world championship with over 400 teams competing. There are six divisions that the teams are assigned to. The Westminster Academy team is in the Newton Division.

The qualifying matches start on Thursday, April 20, and continue through Friday, April 21. The playoffs for each division will be held Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon the playoffs between the divisions played will be played at Minute Maid Park.

Westminster Academy’s Robotics FRC Team 744 believes that STEM education must be a priority as we re-industrialize the United States of America and has been lobbying both the state and the federal government to support FIRST Robotics as a means to increase fluency in the applied sciences.
